RFree use model
In order provide accurate channel searches, RFree needs a lot of data about existing radio stations from the FCC. Because this data changes constantly, the RFree database needs frequent updates. While anyone could potentially set up their own server to run RFree, Prometheus provides access to a “hosted” copy of the software for anyone with a RadioSpark account. (See the “Log In” section for details on signing up for an account.) If you use RFree through RadioSpark, you will be using FCC data that is periodically updated by Prometheus, and you won't need to update the data yourself.
