Windows

Each app can be used as a standalone or within the Max/MSP environment. For those running incompatible operating systems, it may be helpful to download Max Runtime and try the bitSuite patches directly. The Max source files for the bitSuite apps can be found here.

Some MacOS users may find that upon opening any of the bitSuite apps, a warning may report that the app is “damaged” and cannot be opened. This is due to the security settings for Mac operating systems 10.9.2 and newer. To circumvent this warning, follow these steps:

  1. Open System Preferences

  2. Select “Security & Privacy”

  3. Click on the padlock in the lower left corner to make changes

  4. Under “Allow apps downloaded from,” select “Anywhere.”

  5. Close System Preferences and open your bitSuite app.

If “Anywhere” does not appear under “Allow apps downloaded from,” you must make this option available from the command line:

  1. Open the Terminal app

  2. Type: sudo spctl --master-disable

  3. Enter your password if prompted

  4. Relaunch System Preferences and select “Anywhere” under “Allow apps downloaded from.”

To revert to your computer’s default security settings after installing the bitSuite apps, enter the following into the command line: sudo spctl --master-enable
