About This Manual

This manual will cover the basics of how to video stream an event using free software and “streaming format” (codec) Ogg Theora .

We will look at hardware, the streaming formats, firewire, video and audio, TSS (software), VLC, Cortado, and Icecast (Streaming Server).

We will also look at testing, trouble shooting tools, and how to systematically work your way through a set up.

Most of the initial manual was written at the Cafe Oberholz in Berlin by a dedicated team of volunteers.

peeps

The team was formed from the workshop and stream team of Transmediale 09. The workshop was organised by Adam Thomas and lead by Adam Hyde and Alejo Duque. We relied a lot on material from FLOSS Manuals for reference.

Of course, the manual should be extended by you! Please edit and improve.

This manual has been partially written using, Ubuntu, Gentoo and other Open Source Software.  We love Inkscape, Gimp, and TWiki :)
